The Founders

The Windrunners was founded on July 9, 2015 by a diverse group of writers that met on Oakleaf Holt. Many of the founding characters on The Windrunners have roots in the pre-planning stages of the Oakleaf Holt Plainsrunner tribe; our first characters were created as early as April of 2015, with some that span both The Windrunners and Oakleaf Holt being designed as early as 2013. As we prepared for the eventual open of the tribe, many of us began to work together on developing our characters. Over the course of several months, as we collaborated over discussions and roleplay, a vibrant history and culture began to organically take shape: these early concepts would eventually become the Windrunners.

During the mid-to-late planning stages for the Plainsrunners we realized that our vision diverged from what was being planned for the tribe. The choice was made to maintain our characters as they had been designed, and create new characters that better fit the Oakleaf Holt Plainsrunner tribe. The original concepts we had developed were carried over to this forum, and The Windrunners was founded. As we developed, we also took the opportunity to explore new systems of gameplay not seen on other Elfquest roleplay forums: we developed the NPC+/NPC system, as well as a method of creating characters using a system of points and ratios.

One year after The Windrunners was founded, we decided to open our doors to the rest of the Elfquest roleplaying universe. The Windrunners plans to open for registration in late August 2016.
