History:
The recognition of Malek and Orah was a tumultuous one, one that the birth of their daughter Shenah did not quite manage to soothe. An immortal weaponsmith, Malek preferred a quiet life with their foal, while Jackwolfrider Orah preferred the glory of the hunt to mothering. That did not mean it stung less for father or foal when she died, felled by a hunting accident along with her wolf. The death hit particularly hard for Malek, the smith having never quite experienced a loss quite so sudden.
As time passed, The pain of Orah's loss faded, but Shenah's father remained shaken. One who wanted to believe in The Way by which the tribe lived, Malek's faith in it became tinged with fear, the fear that he might lose his daughter, the only immediate family he had that remained. The usually stoic Malek withdrew further, pouring himself into work and becoming his daughter's second shadow. Between both endeavors, there was no time to give voice to his feelings, even as Shenah grew and her wolf blood began to rear its head.
Adolescence brought with it a restlessness that Shenah found hard to bear, the quiet childhood she had spent between village life and the forge incomparable to the pull of the pack and her wolf-blooded kin. To hunt, to howl, to live free. The now of wolf-thought held more promise than her father's insistence of hiding behind the fear of moments passed, not that Malek himself was so easily convinced. Shenah tried her best to obey her father's wishes, but thrived on the tales and excitement the tribe's hunters brought with them while her father honed their weapons.
No longer content to be penned in by her father, a young Shenah eventually rebelled; Missing tools and a trampled garden among the many outbursts that occurred as her father tried to dissuade her from her newly-chosen path, none of which went unnoticed by the tribe's former chief. The situation was a delicate one, but swiftly settled by Longtooth's word and Ashra and Vashti's counsel. Impressed by his own daughter's maturity during the affair, Malek allowed his daughter room to breathe, and found himself surprised by how quickly she seemed to flourish.
Her father's fears apparently laid to rest, Shenah took to life as a Jackwolfrider as easily as breathing. A scout and huntress, both she and Malek enjoy a newfound respect for one another.
