Board Rules
As a participant on The Windrunners, you agree to the terms of these rules, and are subject to them at all times.
1. Content and Terms of Service
This forum is rated PG13 to R. You must be 13+ to participate in the Board. Some content on the Board includes, but is not restricted to, depictions of romance and violence. As a condition of participating on the Board, you must assume and accept that you may be exposed to the aforementioned content. Should you be uncomfortable with these terms, please discontinue further participation on the Board.
Please note: We understand that some subjects may be sensitive topics or act as 'triggers'; players are encouraged to communicate with fellow players when a thread takes a turn that makes them uncomfortable. Please make an attempt to accommodate those with these sensitivities/'triggers' within reason (ie. veer the thread in another direction, fade to black, or cease playing the thread completely). Players are encouraged to make an attempt to work out any content issues between themselves and another player before sending a Private Message to the Admin account. When contacting the Admin with a concern regarding another player and thread content, please provide evidence of your grievances (ex. PM transcripts, chat logs, emails, etc.); the Administrator will review any communication and follow up with ProBoards when warranted.
Please see the ProBoards Terms of Service for more information.
2. Discrimination
Under no circumstances is trolling, bullying, harassing or coercing accepted on the Board. Any Board member spreading or encouraging hate speech, discrimination, and slurs (towards race, sex/gender, identity, nationality, economic status, body image, etc.) is subject to the following action:
First offense: Warning
Second offense: Warning, 24-hour ban, mod-coaching
Third offense: Warning, 72-hour ban
Fourth offense: Termination/banned from Board
Offenses will stay on record. Consequences may change as necessary. We reserve the right to reject registration, deny membership, and ban access at any time.
Please note: Board members are encouraged to make an attempt to work out any inter-personal issues between themselves and another Board member before sending a Private Message to the Admin account. When contacting the Admin with a concern regarding another Board member, please provide evidence of your grievances (ex. PM transcripts, chat logs, emails, etc.); the Administrator will review any communication and follow up with ProBoards when warranted.
The Board defines 'inter-personal issues' as issues that arise outside of the game, out of character, between two (or more) Board members. Under no circumstances should any player use the game or their character as a vessel to troll, bully, harass or coerce another player; any player committing those actions is subject to the action above. Conversely, players should be aware that the game may involve drama between characters to enhance the plot; any player unable to separate in-character drama from out of character drama (ex. interpreting Player A's character's negative comment towards your character as an attack on your person) is subject to the action above.
3. Bandwidth
Do not post large scale/high rez images to the Board (ie. as an attachment to a post); any large scale/high rez images must be embedded from another image hosting website. Images must not be disruptive (ie. sparkles, flashing, etc.). 640x150 pixels is the maximum size allowed for signature images; for more information see Using Proboards.
4. Posting Rules
Posting rules must be followed to participate in the Board roleplaying game:
a. Player characters must be hosted under a forum username that uses that character's name (ex. Ashra's forum username is 'ashra' and can be tagged as Ashra (@ + ashra)). Display names for player character accounts must also be that character's name. Forum usernames that do not follow this format (ex. nofrodelius, Jeedai, RayekLover10) are welcome on the Board, but are restricted to Reader only. Playing multiple characters is allowed, but they must be created on separate accounts. For more information, see Using ProBoards.
b. Observe the posting order; for more information see How to Play.
c. Use appropriate posting formats, and check your posts for vocabulary, spelling, and grammar errors; for more information see How to Play.
d. God-modding is not allowed on the Board (ie. taking control of another player's character in your own post/reply). God-modding includes actions (moving, touching, etc.) and communication (spoken, sent, non-verbal). The only exception is when you have checked with that character's player ahead of time; when moving a character with player permission, you must add an OOC note before your post and state that permission was granted.
e. Keep your threads/stories/plots in the context of the Board canon and plot. Though we encourage creativity during character creation and gameplay, there are boundaries to what we accept (ie. time-travel, Timmain-alternates, ports/crossovers from other fandoms, etc. are not allowed). Threads/stories/plots that fall outside of our accepted canon and plot are welcome on the AU board.
5. Character Limits
Character limits must be observed:
a. Players are granted up to four character slots per tribe, with two granted at the start of play, and two granted upon review after four and eight months respectively (for more information, see How to Create a Character). Players may not create more than the two character slots granted at the start of play without approval from the Admin.
b. Players are granted up to two magical characters per tribe, with one granted at the start of play, and one granted upon review after eight months (see character slots mentioned above). Players may not create more than one magical character at the start of play without approval from the Admin.
6. Confirmation
Before you create your first character, the Admin account must receive confirmation that you have read the Board Rules. To send confirmation, send a Private Message to the Admin account with the following phrase: "Great Sun, that's a lot of rules!"
7. Sub-Plots
Sub-plots are encouraged, but the following must be discussed with the Admin beforehand:
a. Character death (except in cases of character abandonment) must be arranged with the Admin; death is sometimes necessary, though not encouraged.
b. Recognition must be discussed and agreed upon between two players before contacting the Admin; such major events require coordination in the larger plot. We restrict Recognition to once per character.
c. Pregnancies/births must be discussed and agreed upon between two (or more) players before contacting the Admin; such major events require coordination in the larger plot. We restrict pregnancies/births to once per character.
8. Absences
Alert the Board when you have a planned absence longer than four days on the Planned Absences thread. You may defer an inactivity notice for up to two weeks by giving prior notice of an absence, after which you are subject to the Board activity requirements. Please see How to Play for more information.
9. No-Ignorance Clause
The Board has a no-ignorance clause; you are subject to the consequences of breaking a board rule, whether you were previously aware of the rule or not.
10. Changes to Board Rules
These rules may be changed at any time.
If at any time you believe conditions of a Board activity to be in conflict with the Board Rules, immediately send a Private Message to the Admin account; the Administrator will review any communication and follow up with ProBoards when warranted.
UNDER NO CONDITION SHALL YOU:
• Post links or banner ads to adult-oriented affiliate networks, such as pornography site signups;
• Post links, text, or images promoting or advertising escort services;
• Post images of explicit sexual material, extreme violence or gore without associated context or commentary;
• Post images or written content depicting non-consensual sexual acts;
• Post images of child pornography;
• Post content that promotes pedophilia, such as blogs with galleries of images of children where the images, content surrounding the images, or the intent of the blog is sexually suggestive.
Should you be found guilty of such actions, legal action will be pursued and you will be immediately terminated from The Windrunners.
